Sparkly Eyes
Sarah has been doing really inspiring posts over at Birth of a Photographer, and though I find it really hard to find the time to actually work on her tips or take gorgeous photos like hers, I do love reading her blog! So here was my attempt at the sparkly eyes tip. I find it so hard to a) get my kids to look at me AND take a good picture with the correct camera settings, b) get good light c) not have them squinting or making goofy faces at me. Picture sessions are always fun anyway though!

Firehouse Fun
We took a Preschool field trip to the Shoreline Fire Safety Center today. Quin LOVED it! He has been saying he's going to be a fire fighter when he grows up for a while now. So, he took this field trip very seriously:
We all dressed accordingly today in our fire engine red. Even Hazel, though she stayed home napping (while my friend Chrissy and her kids were here).
And I even learned a new fire safety tip: the best smoke detectors to have are those with both "ionization" AND "photoelectric" sensors (like this one). The ionization sensors (that detect fast burning, flaming fires) are what our alarms usually have, but photoelectric sensors also pick up the smoldering fires that are more often the case in house fires. So there you have it, your fire safety tip of the day. Oh and "stop, drop and roll" is only for when you are ON FIRE, so don't go teaching this to your little one, you want them out of the burning house, not rolling around. Ok, now I'm done...Friday, March 13, 2009
