Beach Time

We couldn't have picked a better week to be up at the beach house on Whidbey. It was perfect weather and the time went by too fast for all of us. We had a lot of fun on the beach of course,
swimming,
sand playing and castle/creature/vehicle building,
fort making,
teaching the art of tiny shell finding,
lounging to expose pearly white skin,
"booty sliding",
(as termed by H)
sand rolling,
done by those trying to warm up from those cold dips in the sea, or by a mimicking sister
fishing,
he learned how to cast all on his own!
resting from fishing
hanging with the Gparents,
rockweed popping,

Mama doing obsessive amounts of photographing,
especially of the birthday girl!
beach walking,
 and sometimes beach running
and oh so much more!
Yeah, it was a beachy trip all right!

Dress Days: Beach Style 17-24

I took all new dresses to the beach on our trip, so we kept playing with some of her play dresses. The day before we left we went berry picking for raspberries. Though the camera didn't work on that trip, I did get a pic of H before we left in her cherry dress, cause we didn't have a raspberry dress:

Onto the sunny weather beach attire:

I caught the cheese face at it's extreme for this one and since we adore this whole outfit (a Gigi one!) it's fitting:

On her birthday she wore her party dress (Gigi got his special one at the Edmonds Arts Festival and it's reversible!). She was so proud to show she's 2 in her own way!

This one, her Zagofopo dress (also from Gigi!) worked out perfectly cause we ended up going to a fish themed story time at the Library:

As a finale for this episode of dress a day, I bring you an action shot!

A Little Alone Time

I used a dump run as an excuse to have a little solo adventure on our last full day on Whidbey. The transfer station that was open was near Coupeville and I'd never actually been there, and I thought it would be a fun little outing. So, I did my obligatory job, and proceeded to dawdle around in the shops and on the pier in Coupeville.
It's a cute little town, and lovely to take in at my own pace. I slowly fingered fabrics at a fancy little fabric shop, relaxed on the dock (playing Soule Mama here ;)),
and even went to the toy store for some little items. On my way home I couldn't pass up a roadside raspberry farm so I stopped off, and picked a whole big container full, yum!

It was a lovely way to spend the sunny afternoon.

Monkey Bird Turns 2!

H's "2" rock from Nami and Danpa,
with her bday crown by Anna of course!
Hazel was lucky enough to have her birthday fall right on our vacation at the beach. She's still calling herself "monkey bird" these days, so we had a "monkey/bird/beachy" birthday party! Nami and Danpa were up to celebrate and we had the little party right after she woke up from her nap. She was so excited!
Nami accompanied our Happy Birthday with her ukulele, which was so beachy and perfect!
For cupcake and present time we moved the party on outside:
Opening her Mama made baby doll

Lucky Q got an unbirthday gift of a dinosaur
excavation kit he was perfectly engaged with

Trying on her monkey necklace,
which besides all the jungle monkey wrapping
was the "monkey " bit of the party
Cowgirl H was thrilled with her new real cowgirl saddle from Nami and Danpa
(sorry about the lousy picture quality on these, still having lens trouble)
H, playing bubbles with Danpa and her new bubble toy
Modeling her new necklaces (made by Q and Mama) for us, all at once!
Happy 2, little monkey bird!

On the Eve of 2

H is 2 in the morn, well really tomorrow afternoon at 1:54 pm, but you know... So, while Danpa's computer is randomly getting a connection I thought I'd share some thoughts. Hazel is such a character, not that I really should have ever doubted that I wouldn't make 2 lively, wild little characters, but I thought for a bit when she was born that I'd have a mellow girl, you know to balance things out, but ha not so much!
So, she's full of spunk like her Mama, and as previously posted she loves to dress up in jewelry in particular, but also as you've seen here in dresses!, and she loves to sing or rather at this point hear me sing, "Do the black sheep Mama!", and dance, and jump, and swing, and all that her brother does, which is such a variety. So, her life is full, and happy and exciting! And on that note in anticipation of another one of those lively days in the morn, I'll leave you with these:
I couldn't resist sharing this dress a day one early ;)
Oh how she does adore her brother, even in posing by a giant bullet
And how she does adore her Papa!
She's pretty much a Mama's girl right now though
Sweet dreams little 1 year old Hazel
