Waterproof!
We had a lovely morn visiting with friends Melissa and Carter at Edmonds Marina Beach while enjoying the breeze by the water.
So, when we were about to head home and in the sweltering car, I went for a quick dip and took the camera with me. Don't worry it's waterproof!
After my lens broke, I picked up this little water/shock/dust/freeze proof camera (aka kid proof) which has been a fun toy to have around already this summer. We also used it when we got to swim at the Solhaugs community pool:
That was also the day Q swam across the whole little pool all on his own (with life jacket and noodle at first, then just life jacket) for the first time!
Now we just need to take a tropical vacation someday to go snorkeling with it!

Sippin' on Some Sunshine!
Papa has been coming home singing this line for months now and it's become our mantra on beautiful days (no, we don't actually listen to the song with the kids). So, we're sipping on sunshine big time here! The is the sort of ridiculously beautiful weather Seattlites live for. So, we've been slip n' slidin' with pals, eating ice cream, wading pool splashing, picnicking, statue posing, and mountain viewing.

Beach Going and Tortoise Riding
We went down to Richmond Beach today to enjoy the gorgeous weather and the reptile show too. We went down early to have some beach time and happened to run into preschool pal Ethan and fam, as well as some of his pals. Of course Q had to do some wading, exploring of the beach, digging and such etc. with them.
(had to share this one cause of the lovely mts out, Q is pointing out the reptile show setting up)
Then our pals the McCardell's joined us for the reptile show (part of the Shoreline parks lunchtime concert series we've been enjoying since Q was a baby).
Malachi got chosen to help hold the young boa.
Quin was lucky enough to get chosen to take a tortoise ride!
We also got to see this one of a kind baby komodo dragon with 2 tails!
The kids loved this show!

Happy Fourth Weekend!
We took advantage of the holiday weekend to have a little mini vacation to Vashon for the 4th. There were lots of "firsts" celebrated on this trip, first smore for Hazel, first fishing pole of his own for Q, first rides on Nami and Danpa's scooter (for Todd anyhow), and first major fear for Hazel (fireworks!). The Sanders' had their annual party, thanks Anna (for the party and the picture ;)), and then we watched the big fireworks near Anna Olive's new home. It was an eventful weekend!

First Thursday: SAM
I just love taking advantage of First Thursdays in the summer. It's been awhile since we've been to SAM (in fact not since H was a tiny baby), so it was again like a whole new place for the kids. We've been reading Larry Gets Lost in Seattle
this week and Quin was interested in checking out some of the local attractions he hadn't seen in awhile. We got downtown early enough to head to the market first.
So we acted just like tourists:
that silly/scary monkfish at the flying fish spot
Then we headed to the museum, Q was particularly excited to get there. We enjoyed the fireworks cars right away:
The kids actually did fairly well viewing the art and showing restraint when it came to keeping their hands off:
Then after we'd seen a lot of the exhibits we went up to the kids area and they got to do some hands on creating:
And we met our friends the Roberts up there! I knew they were planning on being here today as well, but it was fun to catch up.
We had a good time up in that spot building, reading and gazing out the window to the street way down below.
Then we headed downstairs to enjoy the hombow we'd picked up at the market, yum. Of course, we had to make one last stop to visit the hammering man outside:
Quin was so impressed to really see this giant, measure himself against him ("He's bigger than me!"), and H was quite awed herself.
