January Birthdays!

We have SO many pals with January birthdays it's really amazing! Here were a few of the fun ones we attended:
Andre's skate park 6th:
Andre is one awesome scooter rider, and by the end Q had switched over to parkour!
 I loved Emily's skateboard cupcakes!
Q and I got to go to Olea's 6th at the roller skating rink!
And both kiddos (and I!) got to go to Cole's superhero bouncy house party:
Fun times!

Year of the Dragon

Quin and I kept up our tradition and had a fun time together at the Lunar New Year celebration downtown! The year of the dragon made for extra celebration this year and it was exciting watching the dragon dances, eating some really tasty hum bao, and watching the martial arts performances. Q was really intrigued this year and kept demonstrating at home afterward.
Gung hay fat choy!

Hazel starts Ballet

H has been really wanting to take a ballet class for some time now, and I finally found one that worked for our week. Since I had just signed her up before the snow hit, we didn't get a chance to get out and get her the right outfit, she was fine with her tutu though, and now she's set for her next class. Since parents can be pretty distracting to these little ones, this was the only "watch" class until the last one of the session. I was giggling watching their cuteness almost the whole time!
She loved it and is looking forward to her next class!

Tet

The kids and I had some time down at the center today, mostly at the science center, but with a quick stop at the Tet (Vietnamese New Year) celebration there as well. I'll try to remember next year to give us more time there to experience this big event. But with a bit of time the kids got to play a few games, watch a Vietnamese dance and musical performance, and explore the booths etc.
Back home in honor of the new year I tried my hand at making my own fortune cookies, they aren't as easy as you'd think!

Friday Night Dance Party

Nothing like a dance party on a dark winter night, complete with light sabers!

The Last of the Snow Days

With what would surely be our last snow day we played with the snow one last time, by running in it in our bathing suits!
Then the kids hopped right into the warm bath. I brought them up containers of snow to play with while they were getting toasty, and the snow became a fun toy for a really long time. We sculpted it, "cooked" with it, dyed it with the rest of the food dye paint, and generally loved seeing what happened to it in the warm water.

It was a really fun alternative to being outside and a great way to enjoy the last of the snow!
