The Post in Which I Embarrass Myself...

This post title could be a warning to gparents to maybe not read this post, but yeah, I know, now you're more interested and will continue reading on anyway...
So, I just got home from the "job site" where the task at hand was to put primer on the little cubby office desk spot Todd made (by ripping out the old funky built in, in the family room). I was too lazy to run home and change into painting clothes so I just tried to be careful, until well, that just didn't seem to be working and I wasn't willing to risk my jeans so I just painted Cameron Diaz style. ;) Maybe it was the non low VOC paint (eww, stinky!), the trampoline I was using as my stepping stool, or the danceable music on the radio. But gee, it sure was a lot more fun than regular old painting! Not all this work on hand is so bad.
For instance, it's great fun to find all these treasures that have been boxed up for 6 months, a few years, or more. Like the lovely penis straw from my bachelorette party, which was innocently mixed up with other party straws in the liqueur cabinet box. Hee, hee, glad I was the one to unpack (and then giggilingly toss in the trash) that one.
So, there you go, not one, but 2 fun pieces of dirt on the Erinita for the night! ;)

Brainy Reading

Thought I'd recommend a great book I'm just getting into, "Brain Rules" by John Medina.
We are fortunate to have him as our upcoming PAC speaker for preschool so I'm excited to learn more from this local developmental molecular biologist professor. But first, I thought I'd let you know it's a great book for everyone, so go out there and put it on hold at your library! Now, I'll go follow Rule #7 and go to bed.

For Now...

I promised a friend I'd get on the ball about posting some before and after pictures of the house, and what we've been doing over there, but honestly I'm too tired and haven't remembered to take pictures. In all of my free moments I've been shuttling items over there, unpacking and setting things up somewhat. We have a lot of stuff, too much clutter, blah, I'm trying to weed stuff out as we move, so we can finally have everything have a place and everything in it's place. So, for now, here's a little of my inspiration for Hazel's room, which is a light peachy walled room and hopefully will have a fun eclectic bird/orange, red, pink, brown/cowgirl feel!

Ordinary Days

It's funny this video should pass my way this evening, as this week this same sentiment has been greeting me over and over. I drive by high schoolers more frequently now with the new house location, and think ahh I HAVE to enjoy this time. Being the sentimental gal I am, I shed a few tears for the empty nest Mom I bought Q's bed from last night. She had wet eyes herself when I came back in from dropping off the first parts in the van, after I'd said the bed was for my 4 year old, and we'd chatted about how quickly they grow. So, with this new home, this hectic time, these days that go by so quickly, I'm vowing to once more slow down, enjoy, and celebrate the ordinary. If you haven't seen this uberly sentimental clip, here you go, (you've been warned;)):

Meeting Baby Nara

H and I stopped by the McCardell's today to meet new Baby Nara while Q was at school. Ah, she is a lovely little one, full of cheeks and hair! You can already tell she's one of the gang!
I love the look she's giving H here, as she gets a kiss:
She was born this past Sunday bright and early in the morn at in the water at home, weighing in at exactly 8 pounds. I'm hoping to get my baby fix with her as being #5, Jess will surely need a break now and then right?
